Embedded in My Heart Forever

Embedded in My Heart Forever.

Even as a child growing up in the 1950's i always seem to find lost dogs.

My father accuesed me of searching for them, actually they always seem

to find me.

then came Princess.

In adulthood i seemed to get more involved with it, not by choice but by

accident.

Enter Princess one evening tied to a gate on the blvd., she was dobe with

natural ears and tail. i had gone that evening to get the Sun New Times,

never did get the paper that evening, but walked home with Princess

instead.

Princess was very sick by law i had to take her to animal control, they

came and got her. mean while i searched for the owner in hopes of

finding. finally i got lucky, i found a store the owner said she was his dog,

so i gave him the pink slip to retrieve the dog from animal control.

the next day i stopped by the store, and asked him when he was going

to animal control, he told me he didn't want the dog. i immediately told

him i wanted her. he gave me the pink slip, and i ran home to call animal

control. Being New Years weekend, they told me they are closed and

wouldn't be open till after the weekend, 3 day weekend. When you

called animal control you could always talk to a person, not a recording.

I told him i wanted her, please don't euthanize her. I called a few times a

day over that weekend, asking how she was, pleading not to euthanize

her.

Come tuesday morning i took a cab to animal control to Brooklyn, waited

till they opened. still fearful she might have been euthanized. I had to fill

out an application for adoption, still not knowing if she was still alive.

finally i was escorted into the back room, loaded with cages of dogs,

which were sandwiched on top of each other. i started searching the

cages, fearful at first i couldn't find her, so worried she was gone. finally i

saw her in a small cage, way too small for a large dog. she couldn't even

stand in the cage. I never had experience such a moment of joy, a smile

on my face she was still alive. All i could say was that was her, yes i

know her. the attendent removed her from the cage, Princess was so

happy to see me, as i was happy to see her.

We walked to the front office, signed the forms, and Princess being

grateful stood up on her hind legs at the desk.. the woman at the desk

looked puzzled as to why she did that, i told her without hesitation, she

must be saying thankyou. when i walked out of there, i knew in my heart

i was getting a special dog, just how special i would find out. Into the cab

heading home Princess sitting beside me, I guess i didn't know how much

my life would change when Princess came into my life.
